Is it just me or is it getting hotter each year?
The global temperature is estimated to rise by over 3°C by 2100 mainly due to human activities that contribute to the increase of carbon dioxide.
The heat has affected more people than ever before.
The Malaysian Meteorological Department warned that some parts of Malaysia might reach 40°C.
The hot weather will not only make you sweat, but might cause serious illnesses such as heat stroke.
At P10X, we care about your mental and physical well-being.
Here are 10 tips on how to survive the heat in Malaysia:
1. Carry a Portable Fan to cool down wherever you are

A handheld fan is an easy way to keep you cool wherever you go! It is convenient to carry around since it won’t take up much space in your bag.
Whether you’re at a crowded mamak or walking on the sizzling streets, you’re just a button away from an instant cool down!
2. Hot Weather Calls for Dessert

As Malaysians, is there a better way to escape the scorching heat than to EAT?!
If you’re a huge dessert fan, take a trip to your nearest cendol stall or dessert place.
A bowl of flavourful shaved ice that softly melts in your mouth will surely cool down your body and make you happier!
3. Need Air-Cond? Go to a Shopping Mall!

Head down to the nearest mall for some free air-conditioning!
4. Drink Lots of Water

To keep yourself hydrate and your body temperature down, drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. It’s as simple as that.
5. Draw Your Curtains and Blinds, Become a Hermit

Draw your curtains to prevent heat from coming in. Play games, watch Netflix or simply do nothing. You’ll be cool in no time.
6. Make Popsicles on a Hot Day

Remember the Ribena popsicles we used to eat as a child? This chilly treat will help you stay cool during a hot day!
7. Eat Spicy Food...That’s Right

You may think: why would I want to sweat more? However, food science experts found that eating spicy food lowers your body temperature. This is good news for us!
Eating your favourite Har Mee or Nasi Lemak stimulates blood circulation which makes you sweat, helping you feel cooler once the sweat dries.
8. Place Your Sheets in The Freezer Before Sleeping

This may sound odd, but sealing your sheets in a plastic bag and putting it in the freezer for a few minutes will make a big difference to your sleep.
Be sure to take it out when it feels cold enough to touch, but not yet frozen. You’ll sleep like a baby during warmer weather!
9. Apply Ice or Cold Water

Another simple solution to combat the heat is to apply ice or cold water on your body.
Applying ice on your elbows, temples or forehead is the quickest way to cool you down.
Running your wrist through cold water before sleeping will also give a good night’s rest.
10. Get Your Car Tinted

Tired of the glare and heat as you drive to work? A simple solution is to get your car tinted.
With the rising heat in Malaysia, a tinted car will protect you from heat exhaustion and harmful UV rays that cause skin cancer. It will also make your car look cooler!
